About the Author
Rabbi Elia Benamozegh (1823–1900) was a Dayan of Livorno and one of the most original Jewish thinkers of the nineteenth century. A master of Kabbalah, philosophy, and comparative religion, he taught that Judaism must engage truth wherever it is found, and his vision of Israel's universal mission continues to inspire readers today.
